Contest!!!

  • Aug. 5th, 2008 at 10:00 AM

I'm a lame ass pimp and missed the opening week of two of my favorite ladies. So I'm making up for it with a contest. But first, let's talk books, or at the very least book stores.

Caitlin and I will be heading up to Seattle in a few hours to do the writing-in-coffee-shop thing followed by dinner with Synde. I can hear y'all now, "On a Tuesday?" you ask. Hells yeah on a Tuesday, cuz that's when the books come out and up here in the wet northwest, that's when authors do their song and dance for the crowd. We have no shame.

Tonight is all about Kat Richardson and Richelle Mead, they'll be reading and signing their brand spanking new tomes, Underground and Storm Born (respectively). So if you're hanging out in the Seattle area, swing by the University Bookstore at 7:00 tonight for some storytime and to have your books signed by some hot chicks (they've got Sharpies and they're not opposed to signing man-boobs, so if that opens it up for any of you...).

While you're there...

You need to pick up Countdown by Michelle Maddox or Rowen or whatever, cause I'm sure she won't mind what you call her as long as you pick up her fantastic romantic thriller. Next up on your shopping list is Hotter than Hell, Jackie Kessler's third entry into the Hell on Earth series, and on your way home pick up some asbestos panties for this read (you don't need those nasty blisters again, do you?).

So, it's contest time and I'm not giving any of these books away. What I am doing is offering up is a $20 gift card from Amazon, then you can get one or two, or a big deposit on all of them if you'd like.

Here's the deal...

Just leave a glowing comment about how excited you are that these ladies spend their time hammering away their fingers to nubs. Blood runs red on the keys people. It ain't all rainbows and moonbeams (like I'm telling you something you don't know.)

I'll leave it open 'til Friday and then reveal the random winner by noon, pacific.

Get on it!

I got a copy of Hotter Than Hell sent to me (and signed) by Ms. Kessler, with the understanding that I would post a review of it if I liked it.

I haven't started it yet, since I just finally managed to get my hands on Hell's Belles and The Road to Hell last night. But, if it's anything like the first book, I may succumb to my temptation to call out sick so I can spend the day lounging on the couch with my rats and reading.

I hold the copyright on the asbestos undies theme. I'll be sending you a bill.

I'd leave a glowing comment, but instead I'm off to work on my lyrical dance to "She works hard for the money" as an alternate answer.

You need to send me the franchise.

Speaking of girl songs, last night I saw a woman dressed like she's just left the set of "Love is a Battlefield."

All of these books sound awesome, so I can't wait to get my hands on them. :D

If those women didn't hammer their fingers away to the nubs, what would I do while sitting in the doctor's office and listening to canned music.

My bookshelf has 4 of the Richelle Mead books. Kat is on my list and I have one of Michelle's books. I also have Hotter than Hell and am anxiously awaiting Hell's Belles so I don't spoil anything.

I would kick Breaking Dawn of my TBR pile for one of these ladies (once it comes. stupid amazon...)

Yeah for hammered keyboards. And once the fingers are gone, remember that speech recognition software gets better every year.

Ack! No! Everyone is coming out the same day and the husband will only allow me to buy one new one this week (if that). *pouts*

Yes, I know should be able to wait till I finish each one, but I want them all. I must have complete sets on the shelves. Great for authors, bad for bank account. *pouts more*

I adore Richelle Mead and Jackie Kessler and I just discovered Kat Richardson's first book at the local library which was awesome. I must catch up on hers now! Michelle Maddox is new to me, but I like your recommendations so now her book must be mine as well.

::Starts thinking how to bribe her husband to allow book buying::::

Oh, I can't wait! I actually have read and loved all of these authors' books except for Michelle Maddox. But I can't wait to try her next time I go book shopping.

Excited is my middle name! Especially today! I've read Richelle's books from the beginning (since Succubus Blues) and own all four of them . . . or make it five after tonight as I'll be at the University Bookstore at 7PM tonight to meet her and pick up my copy of Storm Born.

I hadn't read any of the other fabulous Seattle writers, but not too long ago I discovered Richelle's LJ and found out about you (and read Happy Hour), Caitlin (Night Life is in my queue), and Kat (I just finished Greywalker). I had to read Kat first, because (duh) she's going to be at the signing tonight!

I haven't Michelle Maddox or Jackie Kessler, but am seriously thinking of picking them up tonight at the signing, too.

That Amazon gift card would certainly help me put a dent in my crazy-ass 126 item Amazon wish list (consisting almost entirely of fantasy novels). Seriously. Look. http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/1CF03N3VSD5A8/ref=reg_hu-wl_goto-registry?ie=UTF8&sort=date-added

Oh yes, very excited today. New books, meeting beloved authors of new books, AND the possibility of winning $20? Very excited indeed!

What can I say, I'm a whore for the authors I adore. VERY excited about the bloody keyboards, especially since Hotter Than Hell is out! I've had my copy for a few days now...dear god it did the trick! Mmmm...incubi...*drools*

Hasn't Storm Born been out for a little while? I picked it up this weekend, but haven't had a chance to start it yet.

New authors!!!
I worship the ground that Kat Richardson walks on - I am her official Thing One - she wanted a minion and I am it - but I am not sure I will make it to her signing! This will be my first miss

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH - and I did not pre-order on Amazon because I was looking forward to the UW Bookstore signing. Underground - plus SWAG! OMG!

And now I have to go and buy the other books by all those authors.

Well, having already read Countdown and Hotter than Hell, and Storm Born was alreaedy on my to buy list that only leaves one to add, lol. I am everlastingly grateful for all of you ladies and gentlemen "hammering their fingers to nubs" on my behalf. And I fully expect it to continue, both the nubbage and the gratefulness, LOL.

And I am adding that you MUST, MUST, MUST buy and read HTH and Countdown immediately. They are AWESOME!!

I was at the bookstore last week asking them why Countdown isn't on their shelves yet. (I know the SHOMI books usually come out later her for some strange reason from past experiences, but I still had them order my copy :D )

Richelle's new series looks exciting, thats going on my buy list.

Thank you ladies for hammering away at them keys.

I can't pass judgement on any other than Richelle, because I've only read her. But now that you tell me there is more, I must go buy their books to support their bandage usage, which must be immense. Anything requiring asbestos panties is worth blood.

Wait- they turn their fingers to nubs writing for us????? *gasp* Is there a fund for bandages?

I'm a very lucky person who got a free, early, signed copy of Countdown at Toronto Book Expo - it was wonderful, and I love everything Michelle writes.

And I'm jumping up and down about the new Jackie Kessler.

Keep up the fantastic, amazing and hard work, ladies!
